We recently completed a stunning bathroom remodel in Mission Viejo that showcases a perfect blend of design, quality, and functionality. From framing new showers to installing custom vanities and beautiful porcelain tiles, this remodel truly redefined the space. Here’s how we made it happen.
Detailed Demo & Preparation Work
Before we began the transformation, we meticulously prepared the space to ensure everything would be done right. We started by installing protective plastic floor coverings from the entrance to the bathroom area to keep the rest of the house clean. Soft tape was used to secure the plastic to the walls, ensuring complete protection during the demolition process. We also safely disconnected and removed the toilet, keeping it protected for reinstallation.
Shower Framing & Modern Enhancements
The existing shower was demoed and replaced with a new framed structure, complete with a dam (non-walk-in style) and a new shower bench, as requested by the client. We also framed 2x shampoo boxes and raised the showerhead height for a more comfortable experience. We upgraded the plumbing with a double-function shower valve and installed a sleek linear drain, making the shower both functional and stylish.
Stunning Tile Work for the Shower
To enhance the shower’s aesthetics and functionality, we used premium materials for the walls and floor. The shower walls were lined with black paper and metal lath, then floated and leveled with cement for a smooth and durable surface. We installed customer-selected porcelain tiles (24 x 48 Calacutta Polished) that exude elegance. On the shower pan, we added 3-inch hexagon tiles in a statuario design, perfectly complementing the wall tiles.
Beautiful Vanity Installation & Fixtures
For the vanity area, we installed a 2.5 LF customer-selected Granada Shaker Beech Espresso cabinet with U-shaped under-sink drawers and a toe kick for easy access. We then fabricated and installed a stunning quartz countertop (Super White GQC018), paired with a rectangular sink, and customer-provided vanity faucet. We also mounted a new medicine cabinet and installed vanity handles chosen by the client.
Upgraded Electrical & Lighting
Our team upgraded the electrical system by adding a GFCI outlet on the left-hand side of the vanity, a new dimmer switch, and a can light above the vanity. The bathroom’s lighting was carefully selected to highlight the beautiful finishes throughout the space, adding both ambiance and functionality.
Final Touches & Painting
Once the installation was complete, we patched drywall where necessary, textured select areas, and gave the bathroom a fresh coat of paint. We finished off by installing baseboards and ensuring that the entire room was left looking sleek, clean, and modern.

We installed black paper and metal lath on the tub walls and floated them with cement, ensuring a smooth and durable surface. Our team installed customer-selected 24 x 48 porcelain tiles (Tile World 15-Calacutta Polished) for the walls, while the floor was covered with customer-chosen porcelain tiles (Ottimo Tile LG10) for a sleek look. Additionally, we raised the height of the showerhead for maximum comfort.
Custom Vanity Installation & Fixtures
For the vanity area, we installed a customer-selected vanity cabinet from Koville Tuscany Natural Wood, featuring U-shaped drawers under the sinks and a top drawer with a trash cabinet mechanism. A beautiful quartz countertop (Super White GQC018) was installed, along with two rectangular sinks and customer-provided faucets and handles. We also installed a GFCI on the left-hand side of the vanity and a new dimmer switch.
Flooring & Final Details
We covered the entire bathroom floor with HardyBacker for added durability before installing the customer-selected tiles. To brighten the space, we added new 6-inch LED can lights and installed the necessary shower trims. The bathroom was completed with a fresh coat of paint on the walls, ceiling, and baseboards, leaving the space looking modern and refreshed.
