We started by providing and installing plastic floor coverings from the entrance of the house to the bathroom, ensuring the floors were protected. Plastic coverings were also added to the bathroom entrance, taped to the walls with soft tape to minimize any dust or dirt that could spread.
Once the space was secured, we moved forward with disconnecting and removing the existing elements. This included carefully disconnecting the toilet, which was safely stored for reinstallation later. We then demoed the floor tile, vanity cabinet, and countertop, followed by removing the drop-in tub, side wall by the closet, and linen cabinet.
Framing and Structural Changes for a New Layout
With the existing elements out of the way, it was time to focus on structural updates. We framed the new wider closet to improve storage, making the bathroom layout more functional. We also demoed the drywall by the toilet and vanity, making room for the new pocket door. We carefully framed the new pocket door by the toilet, installed the track railing, and added a double-panel pocket door, which was selected by the client for both aesthetics and functionality. We then patched and textured the drywall around the door to create a seamless finish.
Creating a Luxurious and Functional Shower Experience
For the shower area, we made significant changes to enhance both the functionality and design. We began by removing the existing shower glass door and the shower tile. We framed the new shower with a dam and installed two shampoo boxes on the wall behind the toilet area, ensuring that each box had a quartz sill for added elegance.
We raised the shower head and relocated both the shower valve and the handheld sprayer to the back wall to create a more functional shower layout. Additionally, we installed a linear shower drain and performed a hot mop shower pan to ensure proper drainage.
Custom Shower Tile and Elegant Finishes
Next, we focused on custom shower tiles to complete the look. The client selected 24 x 48 porcelain tiles for the accent wall and 12 x 24 porcelain tiles for the side wall. The tiles were sourced from Arizona Flash Ivory and Themar Venato Gold, adding texture and color to the space. We also installed 2-3/8" hexagonal tiles on the shower pan for a distinctive touch. To finish the look, we installed frameless glass doors for a sleek, modern finish, along with shower trims provided by the client. This transformation gave the shower a high-end, spa-like feel, making it the centerpiece of the bathroom.
Vanity and Sink Installations – Combining Function and Beauty
The new vanity layout was carefully selected to match the modern aesthetic of the bathroom. We installed a custom vanity cabinet from Granada Shaker Beech Espresso, along with a quartz countertop (with a $600 allowance) in Super White GQC018. Two rectangular sinks were installed, along with customer-provided faucets and vanity handles to complete the look.
Enhancing Functionality with Storage Solutions
In addition to the vanity installation, we focused on maximizing storage. The client selected a new pocket door for the closet area, which now included sliding doors to access the space. We also installed floating shelves and a spice rack for additional storage in the bathroom. These thoughtful additions made the space not only more functional but also cleaner and more organized.
Electrical and Lighting Upgrades for a Modern Feel
Lighting is key to setting the right ambiance in any space. For this remodel, we installed five new 6-inch LED can lights throughout the bathroom for bright, even lighting. A dimmer switch was added for adjustable lighting levels to suit different moods and occasions.
Additionally, we installed new outlets and GFCI outlets in strategic locations, including the vanity area and the toilet room, to ensure functionality and safety. We also installed customer-provided vanity mirrors and vanity lights to add a sophisticated, modern touch.

As we completed the remodel, we made sure to add the finishing touches. We installed 90 linear feet of custom baseboards throughout the bathroom to give it a polished, cohesive look. We also drywalled and painted selected areas, ensuring that every inch of the space was smooth and clean.
