When our client in Mission Viejo reached out, their kitchen felt dated and disconnected from the rest of their home. They wanted a space that was brighter, more functional, and filled with thoughtful details — the kind of kitchen that feels like the heart of the home again.
At Unique Kitchen & Baths, we handled this remodel from start to finish — reimagining the layout, enhancing lighting and plumbing, and crafting a warm, seamless design that blends form and function. Every choice we made — from materials to fixtures — was guided by quality, precision, and the homeowner’s lifestyle.
Preparing the Space for Transformation
Before a single tile was laid, our team took great care to protect the home and prepare the workspace. We installed protective floor coverings from the entryway to the kitchen and used plastic barriers with soft tape to keep walls and adjacent rooms dust-free.
Once the area was prepped, we disconnected and safely stored all existing appliances — including the fridge, oven, and dishwasher — to ensure a smooth remodel process. After that, our crew carefully demoed the old cabinetry, backsplash, and countertops to make way for a completely fresh start.
Upgrading the Core: Plumbing, Electrical, and Functionality
A beautiful kitchen begins with strong foundations. We reworked the plumbing system, adding a new sink pipeline and angle valves for better performance and durability. We also upgraded the electrical layout to modern standards — installing new GFCIs, outlets, and switches, along with a dimmer for soft, ambient lighting. One of our favorite details in this phase was adding a new outlet for the peninsula cabinet, allowing for flexible use and easy access to power.
Custom Cabinetry and Smart Storage Solutions
Cabinetry is where craftsmanship meets creativity — and for this kitchen, every inch mattered. We installed 47.4 linear feet of RTA cabinets in a clean Seamless White finish from Cabinet R US, designed to reflect light and open up the space. We added a new peninsula cabinet to improve layout flow and additional counter space, while interior upgrades like a lazy Susan and three pantry rollouts made organization effortless. Every cabinet was paired with Hastia SRZ11D brushed handles, offering a smooth, modern touch that perfectly complements the white finish.
Quartz Countertops and Porcelain Backsplash for a Cohesive Finish
To elevate the space visually, we installed Calacatta Ola Blanca quartz countertops from Genuine Materials. This surface captures the elegance of natural stone but offers far greater durability and ease of care — ideal for everyday cooking and entertaining.
Above the counters, we added a porcelain tile backsplash (CTS Oxides Series Clay 3×12), chosen for its subtle texture and soft clay hue that grounds the bright cabinetry with a warm, organic balance. Together, the two surfaces give the kitchen a refined, high-end look that feels timeless yet inviting.
Finishing Details That Make a Difference
Once the major installations were complete, we reinstalled the client’s chosen appliances, including the fridge, hood, microwave, and oven — ensuring every connection was perfect and safe. We patched, textured, and painted the kitchen walls and ceiling to tie the entire remodel together with a clean, polished finish. To bring in natural light and create a more open feeling, we also constructed a brand-new kitchen window, allowing sunlight to brighten the entire room and enhance the new design.
