A Warm, Modern Master Bathroom Remodel in Rancho Santa Margarita
Completed in August 2026, this upstairs master bathroom remodel in Rancho Santa Margarita brought together warm cabinetry, large-format porcelain tile, quartz surfaces, and a completely rebuilt shower.
We focused on more than updating the finishes. From hot-mop waterproofing and cement-floated shower walls to expanded cabinetry and electrical updates, every part of the remodel was approached with everyday function and lasting craftsmanship in mind.
Rebuilding the Master Bathroom
Before demolition, we protected the path from the home’s entrance to the bathroom with plastic floor coverings and added plastic barriers where applicable, using soft tape to protect surrounding walls.
We then removed the existing toilet, vanity and countertop, vanity lights, shower glass, and shower to prepare the room for its new design.
Custom Shower Construction
We framed a new non-walk-in shower with a dam, along with a shower bench and shampoo niche where applicable. A customer-provided single-function shower valve and new square drain were installed before waterproofing.
The shower pan was hot-mopped, while the walls were prepared with black paper and metal lath. We then cement-floated and leveled the walls, creating a solid, even foundation for the new tile.
Large-Format MSI Shower Tile
For the shower walls, we installed MSI Savory Crema Polished 24x48 porcelain tile, bringing a warm, elegant finish to the enclosure.
The shower pan adds contrast and texture with MSI Kaya Collection Kaya Onda Gray 3x3 mosaic tile. Customer-provided shower trims and a new customer-selected shower glass door completed the enclosure.
Ash Brown Cabinetry & Quartz Surfaces
Storage was a major part of this remodel. We installed approximately 6.6 linear feet of Cabinet R US Ash Brown 24 SD vanity cabinetry, giving the bathroom a rich, warm foundation.
Additional Closet-Side Cabinetry
The storage continued beyond the vanity with another 6.3 linear feet of matching Ash Brown cabinetry installed along the left-hand side of the closet.
This additional cabinetry made better use of the available space while keeping the finishes consistent throughout the master suite.
Novara Blanco Quartz & Double Sinks
We fabricated and installed two Crystal Stone #8071 Novara Blanco prefab quartz countertops to complement the Ash Brown cabinetry.
The vanity area was completed with two rectangular sinks, two customer-provided faucets and handles, two customer-provided mirrors, and two vanity lights.
Electrical & Finishing Details
The remodel also included several practical electrical upgrades. We installed a new GFCI on the left side of the vanity, a dimmer, and a new outlet near the additional cabinet area, while also replacing two switches.
A new customer-provided toilet was installed, and drywall was repaired in selected areas where needed.
We finished the bathroom with approximately 10 linear feet of customer-selected baseboard and fresh paint across the bathroom walls and ceiling.
A Refined Master Bathroom Built From the Inside Out
This Rancho Santa Margarita master bathroom pairs polished 24×48 porcelain tile with warm Ash Brown cabinetry and bright Novara Blanco quartz for a balanced, inviting look.
But some of our favorite details are behind the finishes—the hot-mopped shower pan, black paper, metal lath, and carefully cement-floated walls that created the foundation for the finished shower.
That combination of thoughtful design and proper construction is what we aim to bring to every project at Unique Kitchen & Baths.
